Surface Outpost Zugspitze is a compact modular base with inflatable living modules.

It’s named after the highest peak in the German Alps because of their somewhat similar shapes.

Design Notes

• I still love the Nordkapp, but launching and landing that thing is a PITA, so I wanted to try something small and modular. It surprises me how well this inflatable heat shield fit into surface base design.
• In my imagination, it should be contained in 3-4 standard Mk3 containers and be landed on the surface. Some sort of construction robot would use a crane to assemble it. But I’m too lazy to actually do so, all screenshots are taken with the help of VesselMover mod.
• Two atmosphere analyzers are on top of the base, other science stuff are under the two inflatable heat shields.
• You can rotate the dish antenna unit by rotating the nose cone and the aft octagonal strut. Or fit it with BG robotic parts.
