Description
A pure stock ion-drive experimental probe named Avant Garde, built with 94 parts.
Launched atop a Zephyr booster, it’s ready to go. The booster will impart a very generous kick-in-the-pants for the transfer injection.
Unnecessary, but if you refuel the booster in LKO, you will have 20.4 km/s dV available. On its own, Avant Garde sports 14.9 km/s dV in the tank.
My recommendation, once the departure transfer injection is complete, is to separate the Zephyr booster and burn back
for LKO, or perhaps a Mun or Minmus intercept. It’s reusable!
Not only can this go anywhere (and come back), Avant Garde is intended as a high-energy transfer research vehicle. Forget about transfer windows! Go when you like!!
Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.7.3.
