Control POV
I often use action groups 1-5 as POV control. 1 is almost always control-from-cockpit and turns on the main engines. 2-4 are docking or towing modes and disable the main engines unless you’re a tug. 5 is reserved for space stations and disables everything no matter what.
This makes it possible to dock a tug to an SSTO, hit ‘4’, and have only the correct engines enabled and the proper control POV forced.
Ship Names
The 0 prefixes on my craft just make them appear at the top when I hit ‘load’. Commonly used things are 0-4, rarely used are 5+.
The letter prefixes on my craft, like 0T, are as follows:
- A: Super-long-range craft for outside Kerbal SOI.
- H: Heavy-Lifting craft
- L: Landers / Rovers
- M: Mining craft
- S: Science craft or Satellites
- T: Transport craft, primarily carrying passengers.
- R: Rescue / Utility craft for intercepting and moving things in space.
These stack, so if I made an interplanetary science satellite on a heavy-lifter, incorporating a space to return passengers, I could classify it an ASSHAT.
Research into further vowels is ongoing.
