About This Replica

This is a 1:1 replica of the USS North Dakota (BB-29). Thanks to time constraints I did not really cram as much detail as I could’ve into her. Because of this, she only sits at 3402 parts. Though the cage masts were fun to make. The reason she took so long to make (I started making her right after North Carolina) was because of the rigging, and how odd it was. I recently got that done and quickly did up the deck, and leaving out the details.

The Delaware-class

The Delaware-class of battleships were a United States pair of ships (Delaware and North Dakota) to improve Upon the South Carolina class. The pair were launched after misinformation about the Dreadnought was released. Though in reality the South Carolina was mostly an equal to the Dreadnought (and in armour, better.). This means that the South Dakota was far better than the Dreadnought in all means. There was a 12 gun design proposed, but that was dropped for the cost, in favour of the 10 gun design.

Combat History

The South Dakota herself saw 0 action in WWI as her turbine engines proved troublesome. She was used as a target ship after 1921 under conditions of the Washington Naval Treaty, and was scrapped in the 30’s
