What Is Maynilakyo (A fictional Country that I’ve made in NationStates)?
The Philippines united with a Pan-American Federation under Bolivar’s dream. In a worldbuilding combined timeline, today. Learn More
A Bit of Lore About the Maynilakyonese National Lunoxian Exploration Agency (MNLXA):
The space program of Maynilakyo began in 1951 with the early series of suborbital sounding rockets launched from the New Tenochtitlan Space Center in the State of Mexico. Professor Lenorodad Kerman led rocket engineering efforts at the time, while rockets were manufactured by Niliadcetzo Heavy Industries. After the launch of the first satellite, Sputnik by the Eurasian Soviet Union, the Maynilakyonese National Lunoxian Exploration Agency (MNLXA) was established on 1950-12-05. The agency launched its first satellite, VELOCITATOR (Viligant Earth Low Orbitator Cosmos In Timid Arcs and Tacktiliating Orbits Round’), on a Velocitatem rocket on 1953-02-26. Afterward, Niliadcetzo would develop the Savlaku rocket series derived from American Thor missile technology.
Being part of the victorious Allies in WWII meant that Maynilakyo’s aerospace industry was not restricted by treaties. Maynilakyo’s industrial base remained intact after the war, and it had as many resources as the EUSSR, The Franco-British Union, or the US. Therefore, Maynilakyo won in participating in the race to send humans to Earth’s moons, and beyond. In the meantime, MNLXA would primarily focus its budget on exploring the Lunoxian System with robotic probes, as well as creating communications networks and observing Earth. MNLXA’s first astronaut, Trasques Levidadia, was launched in the Mualani space capsule on a Savlaku-2B rocket on 1956-12-11. Investment in the space program also motivated the development of the new cultural industry.
As of 1960, the probes and rovers of MNLXA have orbited and landed on the Moon, Mars, Venus, Vulcan, Arcas, Antitichon (Counter-Earth), Theia, Paethon, Cirus, Hygeia, Apollo, Artemis, Pandora, Orbited Jupiter, Hydria, Akeile, Juno, Hades, Prometheus, Epimethius, Persephone, Mercury, Saturn, Rhea, Uranus, The 5th and 6th Giants, Sercia, Neptune, Pluto, Tautarus, Hectate (Planet 9), Tyche, Wormwood, Nemesis b (plus all of their major moons) and so much more (why the heck I added too many planets). The crewed Kapwa
spacecraft had also been introduced (a bigger, Maynilakyonese version of the Soviet Soyuz spacecraft) in this decade, while Maynilakyo’s first space station Skilab-One
launched just recently. The workhorse launch vehicles at the time were the larger Azurius and Fufawia rockets and the smaller Salvaku rocket series.
MNLXA would later construct (and subsequently internationally worked on) the ISS, Freedom Station, and the XenvĂ o-1 (interlude) Space Station in the 1990s. After the development of the partially reusable vertical-landing rocket Celestelon to reduce launch costs, it would eventually launch its first crewed mission to Neptune i[/i] in 2001, more affordably (but somehow expensively) compared to the Andoria crewed mission to Pluto later that decade. By 2007, an even larger 1,500-ton payload and fully reusable rocket known as Celestelon would be developed. This would lower launch costs significantly such that a crewed Azurnesian mission could be performed, and larger space projects, as well as extraterrestrial bases, would be built by the end of the Great Interlude
(1993 - 2022), with over a million people visiting space every year.
