Same as Mk1, but using Sparks as hover engines, instead of Terriers. 2919dV over the Mk1’s 2776. Besides the dV benefit, Sparks offer finer control but at the same time, their TWR is not as forgiving. You need to be a bit careful during the touchdown phase.

Also, when you bring it down to the Mun for the first time, you will want to do most of the descent with the main engines. When you’re ~50-100m from the surface and with your vertical velocity eliminated, you can level off and touchdown with the hover engines. After that, it’s business as usual.

I could’ve just updated the original, but I understand not everyone may like this particular change (it also required a little bit different balancing). So I leave them both up -pick what you want :)

A stock aircraft called Mun VTOL Mk1a. Built with 65 of the finest parts, its root part is Mark2Cockpit.

Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.6.1.

I like it! Reminds me of the defiant

Oh -didn’t realize it. Physics was driving the design for the most part :)

Nice once again,
I have used TCA mod (throttle controlled avionics) to manage unbalanced cg in vtol vessels. There are quite a few useful tools from that mod. Auto land, hover following terrain, jump to target.
It takes a little bit to learn how to set the engine groups but it’s a great mod for anyone vtol.

I know of TCA, I’ve used it in the past. While I’m by no means a purist, I always want to be in position to fly my craft myself, before adding any mod to the mix.
My planes also follow that same rule. First I ensure I can fly them myself, then I use Atmosphere Autopilot’s fly-by-wire.

Yep, same here, I only use tca on balancing experimental tri-engine concepts
