The AV-11 is a multirole Gunship used for anti-tank and low level penetration operated by Kerbin forces, it has seen action on Laythe after the colony uprising witch was it’s only time it has seen combat and the results turned out to be a success since it’s design was conceived with maximum flexibility in the mission profile on mind. Similar to the Bronco, the Huron can carry It’s weapons on a special rack on it’s belly witch includes a wide variety of Missiles, bombs and fuel tanks. Despite it’s slow speed, it can perform aerial superiority against ground attack aircraft and other rotorcraft using IR guided missiles since it’s maneuverability is superior to most other aircraft of it’s category. Pilots refer to it as the widowmaker since it cannot fly with one engine or one of it’s horizontal stabilizers and it’s complete lack of an ejection seat or a escape hatch for the copilot. It’s massive dependency to tankers has left many without fuel in combat also it’s fuel hungry turboshaft engines don’t take damage very well.


Weapons: four 50. cal mg’s for anti infantry, a variety of missiles and bombs. Mavericks are mainly used on normal missions

Hit and run: A squadron of at least 4 Hurons will fly on a line abreast formation to attack a target and use all of their weapons on a single attack run, typically a full bomb or rocket payload is used depending on enemy air defense.

In the weeds (SEAD/pinpoint strike): A squadron of 4 will fly in formation with a CF-57 Nomad tanker (Picture below) at less than 100m AGL, then 2 of the Hurons will run in to the target and typically fire a pair of Mavericks (1 for each) then return to the tanker providing Electronic countermeasures and fuel for the short range Hurons. This will repeat until weapons dry. This tactic is very dangerous since the Huron crews will have no chance to safely exit their aircraft if they are hit, or if they lose an engine they have to do a forced landing and stay with the aircraft at all costs. However this tactic is very effective and can do massive damage (Even in KSP).
