Launch procedure:

  1. Don’t forget to pack a scientist!

  2. Careful on liftoff, there is limited ground clearance

  3. Ascend at 20-25 degrees on jet engines

  4. When jet engine thrust drops below ~100kN, activate rocket engine

  5. Maintain attitude, cut off jets shortly thereafter

  6. Continue burning until Apo reaches ~80km, then cut rocket engine

  7. Circularize at apoapsis

  8. EVA scientist from crew cabin rear hatch

  9. Experience science tube in all its glory!

Landing procedure:

  1. Deorbit burn, lower periapsis to ~40km.

  2. Bleed off speed as quickly as you can upon entering the atmosphere. Pull up and use the broad belly of the craft to catch air.

  3. Watch your part temperatures! If getting too hot, level out a bit.

  4. Transition to normal flight once you drop below ~15km or ~900m/s

  5. If you’re a better pilot than I, you should have everything you need for a soft horizontal landing.
