Boeing CH-47 Chinook
Chinook that uses swashplates for cyclic control and handles pitch, roll, and yaw like the real thing. For pitch the rotors do opposite collective and for yaw they roll left/right opposite of each other. And roll is well, roll; They both roll in the same direction.
Flies perfectly fine on keyboard and mouse, no joystick needed! Havenโt personally tried it on a joystick but it behaves very well with an xbox controller.
NOTE: Contains a ton of reaction wheels near the COM that only handle yaw in order to somewhat manage an instability issue, see more below. Does not need these to hover or fly below 30m/s.
Due to me not fully understanding how the real thing handles control, both rotors have an extra hinge that can allow them to roll independently from yaw/roll, meaning you can probably pull off some cool moves with this (like pivoting around either the front or rear rotor)

These will overwrite part configs for all partmods this craft uses. Make a backup of your gamedata or simply create another installation where you install these before merging the folders.
This simply changes mass for some parts (not all) and increases power to the rotors. Iโve also modified RSE to add the prop noise directly to the rotor engine as without this they make no sound (props need to be attached directly to the rotor originally)
IMPORTANT: REQUIRES KJR NEXT TO BE SET TO THE MIDDLE, SECOND HIGHEST SETTING.
Action groups:
1: Opens cargo ramp
2: Unfolds the ramp.
3: Starts both engines
4: Opens front passenger door.
Unfortunately unfinished and will likely remain so. Incredibly stable in a hover and up until about 30m/s, after which it yaws uncontrollably. I assume this is because the rotors run at slightly different rpms due to friction in the swashplate mechanism being a tiny bit different front-to-back, leading to the aforementioned yawing instability.
Tried solving this by using IR hinges for control as these have a mode that is affected by SAS, but unfortunately they simply react too slow or not enough and it doesn’t keep it stable at high speeds.
I’m sure this is not due to angled wing surfaces as it still does it even with no aero parts attached.
Anyways, throwing this out there if anyone would like to tinker with it or simply use the body. If anyone has any ideas on how to solve the yawing instability, please let me know or just upload a copy yourself, but do credit me if you do.
The wheels were not identified by kerbalX but belong to the mod Skunk Works Chenowyth DPV Rover
which you can find on spacedock.
Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.12.5.
