Description

A mod aircraft called Mk3 SSTO 40t capacity. Built with 218 of the finest parts, its root part is mk3FuselageLFO.100.

Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.0.2.

The only mod is the KerbalEngineer chip which is not required for functionality of the craft.

Ascent:

Enable brakes and activate first stage (Two turbojets should be left out). When turbojets reach 160kN thrust, disable brakes. Empty takeoff velocity is 150 m/s, can be up to 200m/s for a full cargo bay. Once the craft is clear of the runway the two remaining turbojets can be activated. Ascend to 8km however you wish. At 8km point nose to 5 degrees above horizon, and it should start to accelerate. (If not, lower the nose until it does) Upon reaching Mach 2, slowly point the craft 10-15 degrees above horizon. Toggle RAPIERs at 25km and try to point up as high as you can until you pass 40km, after which point you can circularize however you wish.

Descent:

(This assumes an easterly equatorial orbit at 100km) When above the western rim of the giant crater, burn prograde until periapse is at 0km (the surface of Kerbin). Activate brakes and descend with a 15 degree angle of attack. Usually I deactivate brakes after passing over the mountain just to the west of KSP, but this will vary for each descent. A good touchdown velocity is 120m/s, stall velocity is around 80 m/s ish. If you are having trouble landing gently, try deploying some of the control surfaces or the rear two airbrakes.
