Description
A stock aircraft called Douglas C-47D Skytrain. Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.12.4, with 62 of the finest parts, its root part is mk3Cockpit.Shuttle.
A WWII turboprop transport plane (hangar 1) replica for the USAF Museum Replica Collection forum thread by Mars-Bound Hokie.
Cruise 135-140 m/s @ 7.5 km (engine torque limit at 22, blade deployment at 37.5). Engine torque limit is actioned by main throttle control; blade deployment responds to translation up/down (I/K by default); flaps are togled by the RCS key.
.
Take off to cruise sequence:
- Pin the PAWs of a blade and an engine (important to keep an eye on their parameters)
- Brakes on, throttle to full, SAS PRG.
- Release brakes. As she gains speed she will level out and take to the air.
- Start pushing blade deployment towards 37.5 (blade AoA optimum is around 7.5).
- As you start climbing, slowly throttle back while keeping RPM to 459+ to maximize fuel efficiency.
Landing can be a bit tricky due to the long prop blades. The plane has a low stall speed, take advantage of that on approach.
