Description

A stock aircraft called Convair XF-92A. Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.3.1, with 33 of the finest parts, its root part is Mark2Cockpit.

A replica of the Convair XF-92A for the USAF Museum Replica Collection forum thread by Mars-Bound Hokie.

The Convair XF-92A is currently on display in the Research and Development section of Hangar 4 of the USAF Museum. It was a prototype first-generation jet, initially meant as a point-defence interceptor, a concept that was later abandoned.

The distinctive feature of the XF-92A was the thin high-speed delta wing, which unexpectedly showed several beneficial characteristics compared to other wing types. It proved capable of very low stall speeds and could maintain control at extreme angles of attack (up to 45 degrees).

Test pilots complained however about it being tricky to fly and underpowered, only reaching mach 1.05 in a dive once. This replica displays many of those same characteristics.

Don’t take anything too seriously, I’m mostly just having crazy fun testing the (im)possibilities of flight, physics and design in the amazing sandbox that is Kerbal Space Program. Feedback is welcome!
