Description
A stock aircraft called Bell X-5 Mk1b. Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.12.4, with 38 of the finest parts, its root part is Mark1Cockpit.
A Bell X-5 replica for Mars-Bound Hokie‘s USAF Museum replica collection forum thread. This aircraft was the first to implement a variable sweep wing that could change configuration in flight, in three steps from 20 to 40 to 60 degrees and back. Courtesy of the DLC hinges, this replica can seamlessly adapt wing sweep between its limits using the translate fwd/bck keys (default H/N on PC).
NOTE: the hinges have very weak joints compared to regular parts, which manifests itself by considerable flexing of the wings on high-G turns, especially when fully extended. This iteration (*) has so far not suffered any ill effect or loss of control, but keep it in mind.
