Description
A stock aircraft called Bell X-1B Mk1b. Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.12.4, with 46 of the finest parts, its root part is avionicsNoseCone.
A replica of the Bell X-1B rocket plane prototype, the first piloted plane to break the sound barrier in level flight. Intended for Mars-Bound Hokie‘s USAF Museum replica collection.
The original XLR11 4-chamber liquid fuel rocket engine is replicated by 4 Sparks in this version. This pushes the craft to Mach 2.6+ from a runway take off, higher if air-launched. Single seat with a mock raised cockpit to approach the looks of the X-1B variant.
Fuel capacity allows a bit over 5 mins of powered flight time at full throttle. Capable of runway take off and landing, it’s also a surprisingly gentle glider. Very stable in flight.
