Information

The Lapcat A2 is a proposed hypersonic passenger aircraft that would be capable of carrying 300 passengers + luggage at speeds of up to Mach 5 for an extended period of time. It would use Scimitar engines - adaptations of the famous SABRE (represented by KSP’s RAPIER), and use liquid hydrogen fuel / coolant.

My version of the concept has a CRG-100 cargo bay up front instead of a passeger area, allowing you to carry at least 36 tons above 1000m/s. The vehicle should cruise at about 1050m/s, regardless of payload, at 16-20km in altitude. Throttling down gradually to 1/3 throttle is important to maintain the correct speed once the correct height has been reached. You can also fly subsonically at medium altitudes, but this will inevitably be less efficient and more time-consuming.
