The Douglas EKA-3B Skywarrior was a jet-powered, carrier-based, Electronic Warfare-capable tanker aircraft.
Developed off of the A-3D/A-3B, the EKA-3B was a modified tanker variant. It was among one of the longest serving carrier based aircraft, entering service in the mid 1950’s and finally retiring in 1991.
By far my most complex build yet.
This aircraft has sucked the soul out of me, but it was worth it for the sheer happiness it brings me to view this thing time and time again.
Features a movable yoke and movable throttles, mostly accurate cockpit and a pretty reasonable partcount of 617.
But how do I fly it?
Basically, engines up to full throttle, SAS on, pull back at 60m/s, and the rest it’ll do by itself with minor corrections by you, climbing to 6.5, or pushing it to 8km. It is very stable on SAS and tearing itself apart due to gees is impossible.
ACTION GROUPS
AG1 Extend inboard flap
AG2 Extend outboard flap
AG3 Retract flaps
AG4 Shutdown engines
AG5 Start engines
AG6 Reverse thrust (may cause issues)
AG7 Toggle refueling line
Sooo… how does it taste fly?
The aircraft is very well behaved and a very stable vehicle. Don’t expect it to fly like a fighter jet, as it is incapable of most of those kinds of maneuvers.
