What's this slidery thing next to the download link?
When the slider is in the ON position clicking the download link will download the craft and open the download tab so show you more info
When the slider is in the OFF position clicking the download link will just open the download tab without downloading the craft
erm....why?
Once you've downloaded a craft the slider will automatically move to the OFF position, so you can then open the download tab without re-downloading the craft each time.
If you want to re-download the craft there will be a link in the download tab
It also acts as a visual que to remind you which craft you've already downloaded, if it's in the OFF position (red) you've already downloaded the craft.
As you are not logged in it will only remember what craft you've downloaded in this session.
if you want KerbalX to remember your downloads between sessions.
Note: this was made in KSP v1.10.0
- It may not function as intended in KSP 1.12.5
This craft has been added to your downloads queue. Use the
KX Mod
to fetch it when you are next in KSP. Enable deferred downloads to make this the default way to download.
It’s hard to introduce the SR-71 in a way that does it justice. It’s an absolutely iconic aircraft that has earned a legendary status both among aerospace enthusiasts and the general public.
Whether it’s for the space-age sleek lines, the romance of speed, or the secrecy that the program operated in during the heights of the Cold War, or the many trivia about it that give it a mythic status, the Blackbird will live on in our hearts for decades to come.

Recreating the Icon
Fittingly, the SR-71 has a similarly special place in my own heart. It is the centerpiece of my home aerospace museum, has been continuously featured in my aerospace engineering classes (did you know that the SR-71 was the first plane designed with stealth characteristics OR body lift in mind?)
Even more specifically to my hobby of KSP replica building, this absolutely unbelievable SR-71 build by Eorin and Exothermos showed me and the now-thriving replica sub-community just what was possible in terms of accuracy within KSP.
More recently, AskSomoneElse’s Blackbird pushed the bar even higher, showing off how far replicas had come in the following year. Now, another two years later I figured it’s time that we saw how much higher and faster we can go. I’ll leave that for you to judge.
Flying the SR-71
It’s dead simple. 1 toggles the whiplashes, 2 toggles the panther afterbuner. SAS highly recommended
