A stock aircraft called VTOL Long Range Passenger V2. Built with 116 of the finest parts, its root part is mk2Cockpit.Standard.
Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.3.0.
This is an update to my long range passenger VTOL.
This new design brings a huge speed increase by reducing drag. The cosmetic radial intakes are gone, as they didn’t really make the diameter step any more aerodynamic - on the contrary. They just introduced drag.
The vertical engines are now
hidden inside cargo bays. They introduce absolutely no drag when the bays are closed, even though they are sticking out a bit. I guess you can imagine there are cutouts in the bay doors. The cargo bays are not really intended to be opened or closed, but you can hit Action 4 to access them.
Getting rid of the other radial intakes also made the intake air problem more severe, but as you never really need all of them active at the same time, the four Wheesleys are now toggled in groups of two. When transitioning from hover to forward flight, just enable two Wheesleys at first, and when you gained enough forward speed (about 50m/s), you can add the other two, and at about 80m/s you can disable the vertical engines. Be prepared to immediately pull up.
The new design carries less fuel, so the range suffered a bit. But 900km is still plenty.
Action 5 disables the reaction wheels. They are only really needed for hovering. Turn them off if you think the controls are too sensitive, especially when approaching a horizontal landing.
The flaps are gone. The airbrakes and the reverse thrust already provide a means for considerable slowdown.
Speed: 300m/s (full tanks, level flight at 1000m altitude)

Don't forget, people build craft at all skill levels, just 'cos something is 'newbish' doesn't mean it needs hatin'.
