Proton K/M

A stock rocket called Proton K/M. Built with 143 of the finest parts, its root part is probeStackLarge.

The Proton rocket is one of the greatest work-horses in space flight. Developed in the USSR in the 60’s as a heavy intercontinental rocket, the design was then modified to a heavy space rocket, capable of delivering huge payloads into orbit.

The standard Proton K/M (which both look nearly the same and are the basis for my replica) features 3 stages and are well-known and famous for delivering many ISS modules and of course the whole MIR station system into orbit.
They are also used to launch large sattelites, and, if equipped with the so called BLOK-D 4th stage, it can put sattelites into geostationary orbit or send probes to other planets of our solar system and beyond.

My version is a 3-stage model, so it is lacking the famous BLOK-D, but is anyway able to put a heavy red fuel tank (all in all 37t payload, included in this craft file) into kerbo-stationary orbit and even escape Kerbin’s sphere of influence. The rocket is very powerful, although it takes off quite gently and is a joy to fly in every phase. But like always I reccommend not to do a gravity turn before 10km.

//Later I will also upload a version of the Proton including BLOK-D, for even deeper space exploring.//
