Lockheed F-104G Starfighter
A stock aircraft called Lockheed F-104G Starfighter. Built with 68 of the finest parts, its root part is Mark2Cockpit.
So folks, I waited a long time to put this one online, as i needed to figure out how to make it stock and good at the same time.
But here it is: my stock replica of the famous Lockheed F-104G Starfighter or also knwon as Widow-Maker
(at least in Germany).
The Starfighter is a typical early Cold-War design from the american Lockheed company. Built to be a fast and high altitude capable interceptor and light fighter, it first flew in 1954 and has been in service for decades all over the the world and became famous for its very high rate of accidents and fatilities, because many Starfighters were converted into all-weather capable fighter-bombers, which, obviously if you look at the design, couldn’t go well.
Apart from that it was exceptionally capable of doing the things it was designed to do: intercepting bombers at high speeds and altitudes.
And because of that, my KSP version (modelled after the F-104G version) is really powerful, got an really high ascent rate and is capable of reaching speeds of Mach 2 and more at heights above 7+ kilometres. During take-off and landing it is just as demanding as the original, with both speeds being around 100m/s+, which is pretty close to the original one and just about enough for the plane to stay airbourne.
Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.3.1.
