Description
Explorer 1 was the first successful orbital launch by the US. It was launched by a modified V-2 rocket and put into orbit by a ‘Sergent’ cluster of solid rocket engines. Explorer had limited scientific payload capability but it did succeed in measuring atmospheric density and detecting cosmic rays and micrometeorites. It’s batteries kept it running for 111 days and it’s orbit decayed 12 years later.
Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.8.1.
