The Northrop XB-35 stands as a testament to the audacious spirit of innovation that defined the aviation industry during the early 1940s.

Developed by Northrop Corporation in collaboration with the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF), the XB-35 was an experimental aircraft that pushed the boundaries of aeronautical engineering.

With its revolutionary flying wing design, impressive payload capacity, and ambitious goals, the XB-35 aimed to revolutionize long-range strategic bombing.

At the core of the XB-35’s groundbreaking design was its flying wing configuration. This unconventional approach seamlessly integrated the wing and fuselage, eliminating the need for a separate tail assembly.

The absence of a traditional tail section allowed for enhanced stability, reduced drag, and increased lift, ultimately leading to improved performance and fuel efficiency.

As cool as I have always found Flying Wings they are an odd lot, they handle and fly different than your
.
conventional aircraft, maybe one would not say such things if that is all we flew all the time. Did take my time with
.
this one especially playing with flight controls and such, I found it challenging to land, if you give it a go just give
.
yourself some space, I didn’t spam if with excessive SAS modules ( there is a few) or hidden controls since I
.
want to see how a wing handles without all that, think the only other similar craft I personally have done was an
.
early B2 which also flew oddly, anyway to get it going turn on SAS (although not required), throttle up and
.
increase the props pitch via the I key, about 5 or six taps should get it to a blazing 50-ish m/s.
.
.
Bindings:
.
I = Increases all props pitch.
.
K = Decreases all props pitch.
.
1 = Will reset flight controls to neutral.
.
2 = Will toggle the little jets I used to simulate PW R-4360 engine exhaust ( I know they don’t sound like an R-04360 )

.

NOTE: As a control example : to bank and turn to the right the craft needs right wing input and right rudder input at the
.
same time (E and D) the flight controls can be returned to neutral by hitting 1 .
