Extremely Fast, Extremely Maneuverable

Extremely likely to kill the pilot.

This the second incarnation of the DeadBolt and it is faster and more maneuverable than is predecessor. It is my all time favorite craft to just muck about in. Will do 245m/s while scraping the ground and even at these speeds can turn hard. (So hard that if you use Deadly Re-entry you will smear the pilot all over the cockpit, don’t use this with DR!)

Like the MkI the MkII will gently lift off the runway without you needing to do anything except switch on SAS and power up. Will hit 200m/s before the end of the runway.

It does have an ejecting cockpit (abort action group) or just stage again, then action group 0 (or stage again) to deploy chutes.

Built in the SPH in KSP version 0.90.0.

(btw, just realized that the description in the craft file is out of date, its from the original DeadBolt, just ignore it.)

Flying the KSC obstacle course

It was never built for range, it was built to run the KSC obstacle course. Weaving in and out of the buildings at KSC while staying below 120m and going 240m/s is tricky to say the least, so it has had a low survival rate while flying that course. If you just use it to fly around at sensible heights its a very easy to fly plane.

I time flying the course from the point of take off, just makes it easier to time. How you get the start of the course is up to you, BUT the DeadBolt is balanced so that if you turn hard left the moment you hit 200m/s you will end up pretty well lined up for the start.
My best run through this course was the first run shown in the vid. Although I did my best ever between sat dishes pass I freaked out and pulled up too hard and both missed the launch-pad check point (going between flag and water tower) and went above the 120m max alt limit. But given just how darn hard this course is to fly, I counted it and my time was just over a minute (1:03 I think)
