This is what I will consider a finalized version of this walker - design inspiration taken from Metal Gear Solid and Mechwarrior. I will continue to design mechs as obviously there is a lot to improve on, but I am happy with this for a starting point.
Unfortunately, the extra mass of batteries was a luxury the design couldn’t afford. As a result, you will need to activate infinite electricity in the cheats menu (Alt + F12).
One thing I would like to add in the future is the ability to vary walking speed. Right now there is only one speed the mech can walk at, and it refuses to go up even the slightest incline. Walking on grass is a challenge too because of the increased stickiness of the surface. However, as you can see in the video it has a pretty decent ability to recover from sudden turns.
To operate:
Again, batteries are not included. Make sure to turn on infinite electricity.
Activate SAS as soon as the craft loads, otherwise it WILL tip over.
Activate the Radial In
SAS setting.
Press AG1 to start the mech’s walk cycle.
To go left or right, use Q and E.
Pitch is inverted; pitch up is S, down is W.
Press AG2 to stop walking and enter standing position. (It may be helpful to pitch the nose up slightly before stopping - watch the end of the video to see how I did it)..
