Design

• Designed as a mid tech career mode space carrier.
  
• Only Level 2 Buildings needed. No tech level above 7 needed. Under 140 ton limit.
• Modular outfitting for crewed or uncrewed layouts.
• External ports for easy refueling, docking large craft, or adding drop tanks for planetary transfers.

Requires docking the port section with the starboard section (Hanger Starboard Mk3s).
After that outfit with fighters and refuel.

The Kate 3 Starboard Bay is a module with 3 fighters, 2 docking drones, and a Hab module for a crew of 4 to help outfit the carrier. You will want to outfit the Port Bay as well to equalize the weight.

Ascent

• Requires Direct Ascent (straight up).
  • Turn on SAS and RCS
• At 30km (30,000 meters) click Prograde button and switch to Orbital mode, starting a gravity turn.
  
  • Toggle to Orbital mode by clicking the Nav Ball Surface m/s display.
• Follow orbital prograde vector and continue to burn and stage until time to apoapsis is greater than 2 minutes, or greater than 100km. Then raise perigee or circularize orbit.

Recommended Mods

• No mods are required. As with any carrier you will need to be comfortable with docking and transferring fuel to small fighter fuel tanks.

• MechJeb2 (for delta V displays and Holman transfer timing calculations)

• Navball_Docking_Alignment_Indicator_CE (more precise docking)

• TacFuelBalancer (transferring fuel to all fighter fuel tanks in one go)
