The Apollo program, much like the previous Gemini program, had numerous proposals for extending both the Apollo mission and for the use of Apollo-derived hardware for those additional missions. The Kane Applications Munar Station or KAMS is an extension of much of the Kane hardware for the purpose of extending Munar missions, establishing a orbital rescue station, and establishing a long-term presence on either the Mun or Minmus.
The lifter is the Sarnus V-A8, also available in some of my other builds, with the CSM/MEM payload replaced with the KAMS. The first stage lifts your payload into the upper atmosphere where the second stage takes over for the rest of the ascent and part of the circularization. The third stage finishes the circularization and handles the TMI (Trans Munar Injection) burn. The station’s on-board engine handles the MOI (Munar Orbital Insertion) burn and adjusts the altitude parameters as necessary.
The station itself has a decent fuel supply meant both for adjusting the orbital parameters as needed and for emergency refueling of either the Kane CSM (and derivatives) or the Sina MEM (and derivatives). The station is powered with both the fuel cell typical of Kane service modules and with a pair of solar panel wings. It’s recommended that the fuel cell is only used as a backup because it depletes part of the purpose of the station as a small fuel depot.
Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.3.0.
