The Kanaloa Tug is the answer to the scenario of when the user accidentally decouples the Kane CM from its service module while still in orbit but either can’t or doesn’t want to load an earlier save or abandon the craft altogether. It utilizes a smaller service module, engine, and control block to allow the user to remotely link up with a Kane CM stranded in LKO (Low Kerbal Orbit) and provide it with approximately 400-500 dV to make a safe re-entry and return home.
The tug itself is equipped with an active docking port stacked on top of a passive one just in case your Kane CM has either, or if you are using the tug for a different purpose yet still using the Kane docking ports. The active docking port can be safely decoupled at any point during the flight.
The tug is launched on a modified Sarnus I-B using a petal adapter instead of the more typical lunar adapter. Since the tug is even lighter than your typical Kane Block II or Block III CSM you should have plenty of fuel to spare to boost it to almost any LKO or MKO altitude, and it may even be able to be used to rescue Kane CMs staranded in HKO (High Kerbal Orbit) or a Munar orbit (although its not rated for such).
Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.3.0.
