The Minerva II is the bigger cousin to the Minerva I while still based on a mostly solid stage design. It has been designed from the specifications in the Blue Dog Design Bureau manual and can easily handle probe payloads up to a full ton for HKO missions or even munar and minmunar missions.
The first stage gets you out of the lower atmosphere and begins your journey after which the second stage gets you into a high apogee somewhere between 400 and 600km while the third stage gets you completely into orbit. A reminder that the imprecise nature of solid rockets make predictable circular orbits impossible, although this can be corrected by the fourth stage.
The fourth stage is a bit different and uses monopropellent with multiple nozzles, the thrust is powerful enough for multiple types of burn including injection burns to the Mun, Minmus or even to escape Kerbin altogether and enter into a heliocentric orbit.
Updated to KSP 1.2.2 without significant changes.
Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.3.0.
