When the N1 rocket was officially cancelled in the 1970s there still existed a need for a super heavy lifter in the Soviet Union’s space program. There was also a desire from the Soviets to develop their own space shuttle that could rival or exceed the capabilities of the US Space Shuttle that was nearing completion. The Energia rocket was meant to fill several roles including acting as the lifter for the planned Buran space shuttle. A variant of the Energia, the Energia-M, was designed as a smaller version which could lift the same payloads as the aging Proton family. The Energia-M was eventually cancelled in 1993 but if it hadn’t it could launched small space stations or space station modules.
The Kraft-M is an approximation of the Energia-M for the purpose of launching 11-12 tonne payloads into LKO (Low Kerbin Orbit) and potentially beyond. It has a large main stage, two powerful boosters, and a small second stage. The liquid fueled main stage and boosters handle both the ascent and potentially the orbital circularization. The boosters should be ejected either when they have been depleted or upon reaching the edge of space. The second stage has rather low thrust but could be used for long burns to either circularize or fine-tune your orbit.
I have included my Baruti DOS-4 space station as a demonstrative payload which weighs about 10.9 tonnes.
Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.3.0.
