Prior to the design of the Gemini Manned Orbital Laboratory (MOL) there were a number of other designs for intelligence-gathering space stations planned to be operated by the USAF. One of these was for KH-10 Dorian which envisioned it as reconnaissance gathering and processing station served by Gemini-derived spacecraft. However the eventual design had it remain a spy satellite like the rest of the Key Hole series.

The KW-100 Doriyan is inspired by this design and is made to function with FASA’s various Gemini spacecraft including the Big G and the MOL. It has two Agena-style ports for standard Gemini craft, a Big G docking rings for others, and even a large docking port for a MOL.

The design of the station is somewhat asymmetrical for mass balancing purposes however it gives each of the arms (the three primary and one secondary) a distinct purpose. Since the FASA Gemini space primarily use monopropellent I have included plenty of it for refueling purposes. I also included a bit of liquid fuel/oxidizer storage to expand the station’s potential.

The launch vehicle is intentionally a bit overpowered so you have your pick of LKO orbits, I personally recommend 240-250km for the time warp benefits. I also recommend Kerbal Joint Reinforcement to keep it altogether although as long as you are careful during ascent you should still be fine. Your angle of attack during ascent should be no more than 3 degrees as long as anything more than that risks tipping it off causing it to spiral out of control.

Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.0.5.
