The Atlas rocket went through a number of flown prototypes before settling on the operational SM-65D Atlas which was adapted into the Atlas LV and eventually into an entire rocket family. The SM-65A Atlas or
Atlas-A was the first of these flown prototypes and was used to test most of the rocket including the booster engines. However it left out the stage-and-a-half fairing and the main sustainer engine. The prototype rocket had two spectacularly public failures but lessons learned led to two consecutive successes with four of eight flights being successful and leading the way to further development.
The Bossart-A is a Bluedog Design Bureau second approximation of the Atlas-A and is meant to give users a glimpse into the prototype. I have included a hidden probe core, reaction wheel, batteries, and antenna so it can be flown successfully all the way into orbit. However if you want to be a bit historical you can remove most of the fuel so that it’s merely a sub-orbital success. You should shoot for an apogee of approximately 100km to simulate the test flights.
Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.4.3.

Don't forget, people build craft at all skill levels, just 'cos something is 'newbish' doesn't mean it needs hatin'.
