The development of the highly successful Ariane rocket family has continued with the Ariane 6 with plans to launch sometime in 2020. The current plans are for it to continue the heavy lifting capability of the Ariane 5 with the projection that it will be constructed and launched more cheaply. The ESA has currently settled on two configurations but there have been studies for many others. The A62 model will have two solid boosters and be meant for recently smaller payloads.

The Aliyana 6-2-180 is a variant of my Aliyana 6-2-120 build which approximates the A62 model. The 180 version includes an upgrade to the solid rocket boosters providing a greater TWR (Thrust to Weight Ratio) and higher altitude for when the boosters deplete. It is designed for approximately the same missions as the 120 model and can comfortably haul a 10 tonne payload into Kerbin Synchronous Orbit (KSO) or even into HKO (High Kerbin Orbit). It’s primary limiting factor in terms of payload should be somewhat lessened by the booster upgrade. However I recommend that your payloads even into LKO (Low Kerbin Orbit) don’t exceed about 12 tonnes.

The rocket’s first stage consists of both boosters and its main engine which bring the entire payload well into space. The boosters will deplete somewhere in the lower upper atmosphere where they are decoupled. The main engine will get the payload into Kerbin Transit Orbit (KTO) although it may not have enough dV to complete the orbital circularization. The upper stage should be able to handle either the circularization or any other burns as needed.

The included payload is a bit of a mockup of a very large scientific satellite with highly excessive electric capabilities but it can be easily replaced with anything of the same approximate mass and diameter.
