The Aggregat-4, known more commonly as the V-2, is one of the most famous rockets in history. It was developed as part of the Aggregat program by Dr. Werner Von Braun. The aims of the program were far-reaching but were cut by the surrender of Germany in 1945.

As World War II progressed into 1945 it was clear that the V-2 launch sites outside of Germany would eventually be overrun so they needed rockets that had another 700-800 km of range so they could be launched from directly inside Germany but still strike targets in England. The solution to this was the Aggregat-4 which added large control surfaces, including a pair of swept wings, and while referred to as the Aggregat-9 by Von Braun’s team it was officially known as the Aggregat-4b (for funding purposes) and while it saw no real action as a military weapon it did achieve a number of goals including being the first winged guided missile to break the sound barrier.

My build of the A-4b doesn’t necessarily add much range but it does add considerably more control both during the ascent and descent of the rocket, at least while it’s in the atmosphere.

Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.3.1.
