procedures:
to go into VTOL mode:
1. ensure ample altitude if airborne
2. reduce throttle to 0 and disengage afterburner
3. press 1 to engage lifter engine
4. press 2 to undock main engine
5. press ] to switch to main engine craft
6. hold S to rotate into position and dock
to leave VTOL mode:
1. ensure ample altitude if airborne
2. reduce throttle to 0 and disengage afterburner
3. press 2 to undock main engine
4. (if necessary) press ] to switch to main engine craft and hold W to rotate into position and dock
5. press 1 to disengage lifter engine
