A stock aircraft called Moonraker v C2. Built with 103 of the finest parts, its root part is adapterMk3-Size2Slant.

This space plane combines the best of my 2 previous versions posted on this site under the frog jumpship series and combines the smaller wingspan of the original with only ¾ of the engines of the previous ISRU, 12 engine jumbo jet winged version.

It can still VTOL and fly to orbit but this time the ISRU and drill are self contained in the rover that features a pressurized driver’s cupola. It can also convert small amounts of fuel on its own but works best when docked back with the space plane. All science and communication equipment are crammed in the back of the rover so it can visit different biomes to get more science in one trip.

The rover is meant to be abandoned to allow the space plane to reach home but there is a small seat available in the cargo bay so the rover driver doesn’t get left behind.

The NERVA engine can only operate at 2.4kN when monopropellant is depleted. An ion engine would have been more efficient in this case but I only used what’s available in my current tech tree.

Parachutes are available that will hopefully balance the craft during Kerbin landing so it lands on its wheels.

To get to Duna the craft must reach orbit, refuel, land on Minmus, extract ore and get fully refuelled, then land on Duna. To get back, abandon the rover after getting fully refuelled again. Will only have enough liquid fuel left for use with Nerva to do a radial burn to intercept Kerbin at high speed so use careful aerobraking, orbiting 5 or 6 times while pointing the nose slightly up to prevent it from melting. Expect cargo bay batteries and solar panels to get destroyed during re-entry.

Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.0.5.
