Y-41 Quad Tilt Rotor (FAR) is the wet dream of any military strategist, imagine vertically landing an entire light armor division behind enemy line and watch them go
Take off: Set the rotors to vertical position (AG 7), start engine at 1/5 thrust and slowly bring it up to a TWR above 1, try to keep vertical velocity as low as possible (<30m/s). Once in the air, tilt the rotors forward incrementally (AG 3), once you acquire enough horizontal velocity (>50m/s), tilt the rotors all the way forward (AG 5). Throttle down the engines so that you stay below 0.5 Ma (The Osprey engine will flame out beyond 0.5 Ma ).
Landing: Tilt rotors to vertical position (AG 7), decelerate by tilting the rotors backward (AG 4). Once horizontal velocity drops to zero, just operate the plane like any other helicopter to land.
Docking and securing the BTR in cargo bay:
Get the BTR here: https://kerbalx.com/enroger/BTR-1
There is a retractable docking port on the floor of the cargo bay. Drive the BTR into the bay butt first, align with the docking port. Then switch to the plane and open the IR controller, manually control the piston to lift the docking port towards BTR. Once docked, EVA the driver to connect the KAS struts on the sides to secure the BTR. Good to go!
A mod aircraft called Y-41 Quad Tilt-Rotor Transport. Built with 63 of the finest parts, its root part is KAXmedCockpit.
Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.2.0.
