Description
Boeing V-22 Osprey (FAR) tilt rotor transport plane. Transition from VTOL to forward flight is tricky with this craft, as in forward flight mode the COT is way above COM, creating a pitch down moment. The plane counteract it by tail plane’s pitch up moment when there is enough airspeed (I suspect the real plane has this exact same problem, anyone?). Therefore transition from VTOL to forward flight must be slow to allow the plane to pickup airspeed for stability.
Operation Manuel
VTOL Takeoff: SAS on, slowly throttle up until TWR slightly over 1, once off the ground tilt rotor forward incrementally and slowly (double tap 3), when over 70m/s press 6 to tilt the rotor completely forward.
VTOL Landing: Press 5 to tilt rotor to vertical position (You can slow down by tilting the rotors backward slightly by double tap 4). For precision hover control, select the probe core right above cockpit and toggle control from here, set SAS to radial-out holding.
