Description
Due to the popularity of my Sandcat tiltrotor, here’s my newer, heavier, more advanced VTOL! Action groups 1 and 2 control thrust vectoring; abort releases the rover. Don’t worry, Jeb can pick it back up later.
A mod aircraft called Sandcat Dropship. Built with 78 of the finest parts, its root part is bellcockpit.
Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.3.1.
Operating notes:
The space between the rover and exterior seats is pretty tight, but the reaction wheel helps with that. Cycle its mode with action group 8.
If you haven’t messed with reaction wheels before, basically, the rover is light enough that the force can spin it around on Kerbin’s surface. This is very annoying when you’re trying to drive, so turn it to SAS only.
But when you need to get into (or out of) tight spaces, use that force to align the rover with the dropship’s docking port. It’s pretty helpful.
Also - and this wasn’t intentional in the design phase - the rover appears to be able to support the rest of the dropship… but you should probably still use the landing gear so Jeb doesn’t pop the tires.
Have fun!
