Recovery and Research Submarine
This craft was born out of role playing needs. A returned probe core, carrying lots of precious science, sank quite close to the KSC and and it felt too much like cheating to simply press recover. I started looking into submersibles, using the Moist! addon and finally built a full blown submersible recovery vehicle. It carries the classic number of three Kerbals, there is a rocket launched floating base (in this Hangar) and the twin hull, hypersonic carrier sea plane, which is included in this download.
This uses KAS and KIS. While the plane can easily be flown without it, I strongly recommend Athmosphere Autopilot to keep the carrier plane at its cruising height of 21000m at a speed of ~1150m/s.
