Description

A stock aircraft called Tamed Kraken Plane. Built with 30 of the finest parts, its root part is mk2CargoBayS.

Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.7.3.

Some usage instructions: The Kraken is a fickle beast. Below a certain altitude after taking off the throttle will apply around 18m/s of thrust (on Kerbin) in the specific direction you are facing. Above around 250m (above the KSC) this thrust dramatically increases, and remains higher until you land again. Set SAS to radial outward and hit Z to take off vertically until high acceleration occurs. Also SAS is constrained while travelling using the K-drive, which can resist direction changes: it is preferable to zero the throttle before making course alterations whenever possible.

If leaving Kerbin SOI, bring an engineer: thrusting in Kerbol SOI (particularly high Kerbol SOI) will usually destroy the K-drives wheels (stored in the cargo bay) immediately, and they must be repaired for the drive to work again.

Note that thrust is a function of the SOI mass, so Eve thrust will be higher than Pol, for example, but it is possible to travel from Kerbin to Pol (and back) using only the K-drive. Thrust is generated in physical time warp (2x-4x), but this is significantly lower than use in normal time. Like normal engines, the K-drive cannot be operated in time warp (5x+).
