The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter, first flown as the XF-104 prototype in 1954, marked a significant leap in jet fighter design. The XF-104, developed for the U.S. Air Force, featured cutting-edge technology for its time, including a sleek, delta-wing design and a powerful General Electric J79 engine. Its design aimed for high speed and agility, but early models faced challenges, particularly with stability and handling at low speeds.

The F-104C, introduced in the early 1960s, addressed many of these issues and represented a significant improvement over the original XF-104. This variant was optimized for tactical air superiority and ground-attack missions. It featured enhanced avionics, increased fuel capacity, and a more refined wing configuration to improve performance at various speeds and altitudes. The F-104C also incorporated improved weapons systems, including air-to-air missiles and bombs, making it more versatile in combat scenarios. The upgrades helped the F-104C become a reliable workhorse for the U.S. Air Force and several allied nations, solidifying the Starfighter’s role as a high-speed, high-performance fighter during the Cold War era.
Hi! Here’s the F-104C. I was heavily inspired by the work of user AndyYZ_ to really step up my build quality. The F-104 cockpit comes from the Github version of moderately plane related, but if you can’t find it just leave a comment and let me know so I can link it to you!
