After the successful return of the Horizon Odyssey and landers, the crew was debriefed and the engineers got to studying the data collected. After processing everything the engineers found a couple of key areas to improve or alter.
-Aerobraking to establish orbit greatly improves fuel conservation and extends mission duration
-Thrust to weight ratio is a balance. You need the Dv, but extended burns are a hassle.
-Science objectives can be moved to other components, thereby increasing range and crew capacity of transports.
Enter The Horizon Nova Odyssey! Redesigned with these goals in mind, this ship is capable of transporting 16 kerbals. It is also fully probe controlled. With a solid 8200+ Dv (.39-1.11 TWR), this ship is perfect for carrying all those kerbalnauts and tourists to another planet. It is built for manuverability and control. With multiple internal reaction wheels and vernor thrusters it is a breeze to dock to or with. Airbrakes provide stability during aerobraking, making it much easier to establish an orbit coming from interplanetary space. However, with so much Dv aerobraking is not required!
The communications system is solid, although if you plan on venturing to Jool you might want to establish some kind of interplanetary network, possibly using an Omni Sphere II. The lifter is probe controlled as well and fully recoverable, either manually or with StageRecovery mod.
