Description
The Juneau 310 is a dual-engine propeller plane based on the airframe of the Juneau 410. It carries up to 100 kerbals (96 pax, 4 crew), and fewer fuel tanks than the Juneau 410 since its engines are ridiculously efficient, allowing up to 62 hours of continuous flight. It features variable propeller pitch and individual engine control, allowing for differential thrust and simulated engine failures. The J310 makes for a great trainer for the dynamics of multiengine propeller aircraft.
This ship was developed using Ferram Aerospace Research, and may require some retooling to use without it. Flap controls will need to be remapped, and aerodynamic surfaces may need to be adjusted for best performance.
SURFACE CONTROLS
Custom key 1 - Airbrakes
Custom key 2 - Flaps retract
Custom key 3 - Flaps extend
ENGINE CONTROLS
Custom axis 1 - Engine 1 throttle
Custom axis 2 - Engine 2 throttle
Custom axis 3 - Engine 1 propeller pitch
Custom axis 4 - Engine 2 propeller pitch
Main throttle - Synchronous propeller pitch
TAKEOFF
1. Set elevator trim to positive third notch
2. Set prop. pitch to zero, throttle to 100% until both engines reach 460RPM
3. Set equal prop. pitch between 40 and 50 (L prop positive, R prop negative)
4. Reduce throttle to 60%, or as necessary to keep max RPM
5. Rotate at 77m/s (150kts), maintain climb at 90m/s (180kts)
6. Retract flaps to 1 of 3
7. Adjust prop pitch to achieve desired speed/acceleration
LANDING
1. Reduce speed to 100m/s (195kts) on final approach, extend flaps to 2 of 3
2. Reduce speed to 95m/s (185kts), extend flaps to 3 of 3, lower landing gear
3. Cross runway threshold at 90m/s (175kts), touchdown gently below 90m/s
4. Set prop pitch to negative (L prop negative, R prop positive), adjust for best deceleration
