Description

The C106 TiltBug is capable of VTOL, vertical flight, standard flight, and STOL. Unlike some other tilt-engine aircraft, the TiltBug doesn’t require you to switch crafts as long as you follow procedures.

VTOL Takeoff: Press 4 to set the rear engine to VTOL mode, then press 2 and 3 to activate all engines. NOTE that afterburner is NOT required, and should only be used for VTOL at low thrust.

VTOL Landing: Ensure that the rear engine is set to VTOL mode by pressing 4, then gently lower the craft to the ground. Don’t forget to lower the landing gear!

STOL Takeoff: Ensure the rear engine is raised and front engines are turned off, then raise engine thrust slowly to full. Start rotation at 40m/s

STOL Landing: Land like you normally would land a plane, main two wheels first, and aim for touchdown at 60m/s.

Switching Rear Engine Mode: For STOL to VTOL, just press 4 and the engine should lower into place. For VTOL to STOL, there should be a little bit of engine thrust, front two engines cutoff, then press 4 and the engine should raise. If the engine doesn’t connect or doesn’t raise/lower, you can switch to it and rotate it manually. Note that this should NOT be done close to the ground!
