Summary: Swedish fighter aircraft manufactured from 1955-74, and also exported to Austria, Denmark, Finland, and the USA as a trainer. First fully supersonic fighter to be deployed in Western Europe. 651 produced. Last Drakens in service retired in 2005 (Austria).
The Saab 35 Draken was developed during the late 1940s and early 1950s as a means to intercept jet bombers of the era, though was adapted to circumstances unique to Sweden, including the need to operate from reinforced public roads adapted into wartime airbases, and for refuelling to take place in no more than 10 minutes.
The revolutionary double-delta configuration was chosen to give good performance both at low speeds, and when flying supersonically. This design had to go extensive testing at lower scale (Saab 210 Lilldraken). The Draken was powered by a single Svenska Flygmotor RM6B/C turbojet (a licenced copy of the Rolls Royce Avon 200/300).
The Draken had many variants, and was exported to Austria, Denmark, and Finland, each country having planes with unique specifications. In Sweden, the Draken was gradually replaced during the 1990s, by the equally distinctive Saab JAS 39 Gripen.

A mod aircraft called Saab J35 Draken. Built in KSP Version 1.1.3 with 89 parts, closely to scale, and using appropriate systems, weapons and colour scheme wherever possible.
