Description
Test vehicle using AIRBRAKE sandwiches for control during a bellyflop reentry as intended for SpaceX Starship.
Fly it to orbit with a normal gravity turn. It should have around 1000m/s of delta v left in orbit.
Trajectories mod recommended for pinpoint landing. Set trajectories to retrograde descent and aim for the KSC.
Press 1 to engage bellyflop mode. Hold retrograde then Press 0 while in space to hold it at a 70 degree AoA.
If you look like you’re overshooting Press 1 to go back to 90 degree AoA. If you look like you’re short, press 9 to hold 50 degrees AoA.
You should be falling straight down during final approach while holding radial out. Use translation key I/K to pitch for fine adjustments. Pitching down will give it forward motion. Holding retrograde will stop any forward motion.
For the landing flip, engage RCS, radial out hold then press 2. You can use the translation controls I/K and J/L for control during the landing burn.
