The Orange Tank SSTO, as you might expect, ferries a full orange tank of fuel to orbit and can be almost fully recovered. The single-stage booster is designed to be launched into an 80-100 km orbit with fuel to spare, then deorbited for a parachute-assisted powered recovery near* KSC. The orange tank orbiter has an additional 170 m/s ∆v for orbital maneuvering, and abundant monoprop for repeated rendezvous. Paired with a Krew Transfer Vehicle, it can take seven kerbals one-way to the surface of every body but Tylo, and round-trip to Mun, Minmus, Gilly, Duna, Ike, Dres, or Bop and Pol. Following missions to the inner solar system, the orbiter can also be recovered, for a net launch cost of <20,000 spesos.

The Mk4 features tweaked aesthetics, reduced mass, improved recovery of both stages, and a Universal Docking Port for refueling both 0.625 m and 1.25 m craft on the same flight.

*Trajectories highly recommended, and don’t forget to deploy brakes first.

Built with 73 of the finest parts, its root part is probeCoreOcto2. Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.2.2.
