Description

A stock aircraft called Work Horse XL. Built with 234 of the finest parts, its root part is dockingPortLarge.

Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.3.1.

Purpose

Reusable drone SpacePlane with dockable service core and Klaw to grapple stuff.
This is the bigger version of my previous Work Horse SpacePlane.
This version can haul TWO orange tanks (72 tonnes) to a 1000km orbit and return to KSC.

Launching

Take off and hold 7 degrees pitch all the way up to sub-orbit; switch RAPIER modes at 22Km and continue to climb until your APO is 70Km then throttle down all the way and glide to sub-orbit, this vessel should continue to climb above 70Km all by itself just by gliding in the middle atmosphere due to it’s awesome wings providing an amazing amount of lift.
Once you’re at 70Km, circularize with the RAPIER and NERVA engines then continue to raise your APO to your desired altitude using only the NEVERA engines.
(There’s not enough oxidizer left over at this point.)
Recommended maximum altitude is 1000Km. Beyond that, returning to Kerbin isn’t guaranteed.

Operation

Once in your desired orbit, undock the service core from the airframe and maneuver your construction piece into position, undock from the piece and redock with the airframe, de-orbit and repeat as needed until construction is completed.

Landing

High-Altitude landings are very tricky, if not done correctly, you could burn up in the atmosphere.
When de-orbiting, set your PE to 44Km then hold prograde while remaining right-side-up.
You should pass through the atmosphere and exit again, safely aerobraking and putting your AP between 70Km 200Km. from there, alter your trajectory as needed at your lowered AP in order to land at KSC and re-enter the atmosphere upside-down. the angled wings should push you to the lower atmosphere instead of skipping off into space again.
Once you reach 36Km, roll sideways and pull up to force a braking manuver. if you veer too far off course, simply roll to the other side and repeat the braking process until your surface speed is below 1500 m/s.
Aim for the runway, toggle the landing flaps with action group 4, and land as usual, or crash it.
