Submission for GRUK’s 1930’s challenge.
Rhe Yukon Queen, a Barkley Grow T8P, was the first twin engined all metal aircraft to operate in Canadas north. It was also the first in Canada to have two-way radio communication, and radio direction finding.

11 were produced, and they were equipped with wheels, skis and floats depending on their operating location.

The wings were created with a revolutionary wing structure, in the form of many crossed spars instead of a single, heavier spar. The ‘Multi-Spar Wing’ was very light, very stiff, and sadly, very expensive to deal with, provided you wished to keep the aircraft flying.
