Design Notes
After several missions with the Bobcat, it became apparent that pilots were damaging landing gear (OK, and maybe the roof!) too often on vertical landings. Upgrading the VL10 turbo fan array to the more powerful VL14 system boosted the vertical TWR by 38% from 1.68 to a more impressive 2.32. Along with this increase in hover power, a small pair of inline reaction wheels were also added for improved stability. The result is a more responsive and controlled vertical flight experience, especially when landing.

In response to an RFP issued by Kerbin Naval Command, Untied Technologies developed a cost effective, compact, lightweight, and highly maneuverable VTOL fighter craft. The scrappy FA-08 Bobcat!
A stock aircraft called FA-08 Bobcat. Built with 72 of the finest parts, its root part is Mark2Cockpit.
Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.12.5.
Demo Flight
Inbound from the Island Base Research Facility, our ace test pilot demonstrates both rooftop and conventional takeoff and landings at the KSC. Note 2/3 throttle is a key setting for the Bobcat as it represents 1.0 TWR hover thrust for the Verti-Lift Turbofan Array. Also notice that activating vertical engines (key 3
) auto-magically toggles the blast doors.
